I am a licensed clinical social worker with over thirty years of experience offering psychotherapy to individuals, couples - gay and straight, and group therapy. I am a certified trained sex therapist, and specialize in sexual dysfunction, intimacy, and couples' issues. I also work with clients on a broad range of other problems.
My style is respectful, warm, and supportive, and yet direct. I encourage serious discussion but feel there is a place for humor and creative exploration of ideas. If medication is appropriate, I will assist in making arrangements. Together we can solve problems and create an approach to life that will serve you well into the future.
I am trained and experienced in various treatment approaches to couples' issues and sexual dysfunction. I use a number of treatment modalities when counseling individuals and couples because I don't believe that only one approach is right for everyone. I feel that therapy is a collaborative effort where I assist my clients in choosing the path that's right for them. In general, however, I would say that most people respond favorably to cognitive-behavioral therapy. This involves identifying beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors that play a large part in current problems. Together we develop more functional, flexible, and adaptive solutions. Some individuals may need to explore early experiences with family, friends, or past relationships that were influential and currently affecting their functioning and happiness.

Early in my career I did protective services, helping families where there was physical and/or sexual abuse or neglect. I then went on to become a psychiatric social worker in a medical facility where I worked with hospitalized psychiatric patients and their families, as well as with medical patients who had emotional problems related to their illnesses or home situations. In my 30 years of private practice I have helped hundreds of clients resolve their problems and live happy, more productive lives.
